Senior Accountant

Description
Surgient, Inc. is currently looking for a senior accountant to join its finance department. In this position, you will perform a wide range of accounting functions, financial reporting and general accounting duties of a highly confidential nature. Good communication and people skills are essential since you will interact with all level of employees across all departments within the company. A high degree of initiative, independent judgment and follow-through are necessary to assure success. This position reports to the Director of Finance.
Responsibilities:
- General accounting functions including accounts payable, collections, reconciliation, journal entries, credit checks, accruals, fixed assets and depreciation schedules, tax preparation and financial reports.
- Examine, verify and correct accounting transactions to ensure completeness and accuracy of data and proper identification of accounts.
- Assist Controller with monthly and quarterly close.
- Assist Controller in directing accounting functions. These functions include establishing and maintaining an organization's accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
- Assist Controller in preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports.
- Maintain finance files and locate various information.
- May perform a variety of duties to support other G&A departmental functions as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or a minimum 6 years of relevant work experience required. CPA a plus.
- Ability to multi-task, be creative and work within an autonomous environment.
- Strong PC skills to include expert skill level with Excel and Word.
- Proficient with a full financial system.
- Excellent customer service and human relations skills.
- Detail oriented and analytical with strong problem solving skills.
- Ability to efficiently prioritize multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- High level of integrity, humility, and honesty combined with the ability to trust others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
