Symantec – Integration for Virtual and Physical Provisioning

Surgient partners with Symantec to provide our customers with a direct, productized integration for Altiris Deployment Solution, enabling users to manage both physical and virtual resources from a single environment.

Physical Servers with Surgient and Altiris Deployment Solution

Faced with the task of managing existing physical and growing virtual resources, enterprise IT operations teams often use multiple software tools to effectively provision and deploy heterogeneous computing systems, adding artificial complexity and increasing operational inefficiencies. To maximize IT efficiency and reduce system complexity, Surgient introduces x86/Intel architecture physical provisioning support for Symantec Altiris Deployment Solution. Combined with Surgient’s industry-leading virtualization automation technology, this new support ensures a seamless, transparent provisioning and deployment process across heterogeneous systems, while leveraging existing infrastructure and management tools.

How it Works

Add Physical Machines to Resource Pools
Via the integrated physical provisioning system, Surgient gains control over some or all of the physical resources and adds them to the available resource pools; allowing blended physical/virtual environments.

Store Images & Configurations
Physical server images are stored side-by-side with virtual server images within the Surgient library for easy management and access.

Deploy
Users can easily create and deploy heterogeneous application configurations that include both virtual and physical resources.

Manage
Once deployed, Surgient provides server management for physical and virtual resources including:
