VQMS Server
Physical or virtual server where the VQMS software is installed. Although VQMS components may be deployed on multiple servers in a distributed architecture, the requirements below pertain to the default VQMS single-server installation.

• English version of one of the following operating systems:
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2
    (Standard, Enterprise, Web, x64)
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP1
    (Standard, Enterprise, Web)
• 2 GB RAM
• 10 GB free disk space *
• Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
• Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.x with ASP.NET enabled
• Microsoft Data Access Client (MDAC) 2.8 SP1

* 40 GB free disk space recommended if the VQMS Server will be used to store images.

Database
VQMS ships with SQL Server 2005 Express and, during the installation, you'll be asked to install it on the VQMS Server. If you elect not to install it, you'll be asked to choose an existing SQL Server instance on the VQMS (or other) server.

• One of the following databases:
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 SP1
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 x64
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express x64
• Mixed Mode Authentication must be enabled
• Remote connections using TCP/IP must be enabled

Host Server
Physical server, running a VMware or Microsoft virtualization product, on which VQMS will manage the setup of virtual resources. A typical environment consists of multiple host servers whose aggregate capacity is pooled and allocated.

• One of the following virtualization products:
  • VMware ESX 3.0.1 / 3.0.2 / 3.5
  • VMware ESX 3.5 (Standard or Enterprise)
  • Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1
• 4 GB RAM (supports approximately 6 virtual machines with 512 MB RAM)
• 10 GB free disk space (library provisioning) or 40 GB (dedicated cache location)

Client
This is the computer used by IT operations and lab management personnel to administer VQMS and by end-users to request and access test environments 24x7.
