About Surgient
Surgient is the leading provider of Virtual Lab Applications that put virtualization technology to work for the world’s largest independent software vendors (ISV’s) and Global 2000 organizations.

The first company to provide virtualization applications that automate the setup, provisioning, and deployment of complex enterprise software environments or “virtual labs”, Surgient’s award-winning virtual lab applications enable end users to provision needed computing resources on demand for business-critical initiatives such software QA/Test, Training, Sales and Marketing.

Since founding the company in 2003, Surgient virtual labs have delivered over 1,000,000 applications to-date, enabling companies such as Business Objects, EMC, HP, Microsoft, CA, IBM, and Target to dramatically accelerate the software application delivery lifecycle, reduce operating costs, increase productivity and enable IT to better align with business priorities.

Surgient’s solutions portfolio includes award-winning virtual lab applications such as Virtual QA/Test Lab Management System™ (VQMS), Virtual Training Lab Management System™ (VTMS) and Virtual Demo Lab Management System™ (VDMS).

Built and delivered on Surgient’s Virtualization Control Server™ (VCS), Surgient’s patented platform orchestrates and optimizes shared virtual infrastructure to eliminate the high costs and inflexibility of complex pre- and post-production computing environments and deliver virtual labs, on demand.

Surgient Business Model

Surgient sells its Virtual Lab Application solutions under both a software-as-a-service and on-site licence business model. By moving customers’ physical software labs out of their infrastructure and into "virtualized" infrastructure solutions, they are able to utilize their infrastructure more efficiently and deliver browser-based access to software applications "on demand" – to any user, anywhere, any time. Thus, Surgient enables its customers to eliminate significant capital and operating expenditures and to drive revenue through increasing speed to market for new technologies.

Surgient Technology Leadership

Surgient’s pioneering efforts in developing and leveraging virtualization technology to create virtual labs means that we offer at least a two-year lead or more in technology experience and expertise with virtual lab applications, compared with any other providers. The key technology components of Surgient solutions include hardware resources, virtual machine technologies from Microsoft and VMware, proprietary virtualization management platform VCS, and Surgient Virtual Lab Applications – domain-specific application workflows for software selling/marketing, training and development/testing. Surgient maintains its computing infrastructure and our virtualization platform and solutions in a SunGard Availability Services data center in Austin, Texas. This computing environment consists of more than 1,000 physical servers, running over 9,000 virtual machines.

Surgient Management Leadership

Surgient is led by software-industry veterans that have helped grow leading organizations such Oracle, Tivoli, Pervasive, Red Hat, SAS, Vignette and Motive as well as start-ups such as Datis, Akopia, Simba and Wallop.

Investors

Surgient is backed by top-tier venture firms including Austin Ventures, BlueStream Ventures, Crosslink Capital, Goldman Sachs, MFI Capital (Tom Meredith, former CFO, Dell), Seaport Capital, SternHill Partners and others.
